Smt. Visalakshi Sankaran, is a passionate Sanskrit educator with 30+ years of teaching experience. Her involvement in Sanskrit goes beyond teaching into translation and discussions on Sanskrit literature, grammar and also on philosophy. Due to her vivid teaching experience she has unique perspective on how Sanskrit should be taught at different curricula levels.

She was introduced to Samskrita by Smt. Malathi Balasubramaniam. She holds a gold medal for M.A (Sanskrit) from Madras University. She has studied philosophy, Sanskrit grammar and literature under the guidance of Dr. N. Veezhinathan(Retd. HOD, Dept of Sanskrit, Madras University) and Dr. V. Abhiramasundaram (HOD, Dept. of Sanskrit, Vivekananda College, Chennai).

Her major accomplishments include -

Instrumental in setting up Sanskrit as a second language for elementary and middle school students at the Chettinad Harishree Vidyalayam, Chennai

Actively involved with CDAC, Pune to digitize the Yajur Veda text and localize free and open-source software in Sanskrit. Her localization work on free open-source software was released as an Indian language pack by CDAC.

Widely published author in various national conferences, including the All India Oriental Conference.

Prominent speaker on various texts such as Neeti Sathakam, Saundarya Lahari, and Bhakti Texts of Adi Sankara

Active blogger on the concepts of Sanskrit literature and Vedanta at - http://samskrute.blogspot.com.

Well-informed contributor at various online forums such as ambaa-l and Sanskrit-l.

Her sloka composition on Lord Krishna was tuned and sung on stage by Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sanjay Subrahmanyam as part of his concert.

She is currently based out of San Jose, CA, where she teaches Sanskrit to the NRIs living in the USA and also the middle east.
